Just seen this fun application in one of my RSS feeds and I thought I’d share it with you all, the voice quality is a bit robotic on some of the emoticarolers as you might expect with text to speech conversion software, but hey this is the festive period and I thought it was a bit of fun if you put aside the tech behind it for a moment.

You pick 4 carolers from the list, chose your favourite carol. You can even make up your own lyrics type each word into the box underneath, when you’ve done just hit “Preview and Send”. It takes a few seconds to compose the song, then the door opens and the 4 carolers will start singing the song you have chosen and any customised lyrics.

You then have a choice to send the carol via Yahoo Messenger, email it to a friend, share and embed it (I assume this means you can embed it into your own site to greet/annoy your visitors), or you can download it as an MP3.

Is this question really relevant anymore?

I’m going to say that it is no longer relevant as people are now using Twitter for a whole range of things and not neccesarily answering the question.

I think they should just have the phrase “Tweet Away”.

Why oh why do some people resort to firing their staff via email, instant messenger or blog?

If you are in a position to hire and fire someone then you should have the courage to tell the person face to face that their services are no longer required. You were more than happy to interview the person for the position in the first place so why the sudden reticence to do the firing face to face?

If you know that you are going to have to let people go, take some time out and have the courage to tell them to their face.

If it makes you feel bad to do it face to face, tough, it goes with the territory being a manager. You take all of that onboard when you go for that promotion, you cannot just have the nice fluffy bunny bits.

Have you ever had anything embarrassing happen to you on the internet?

This can be from pictures of you doing something you regret ending up being plastered all over the internet for everyone to see including your work colleagues.

Has your diary ever been leaked on the internet?

I am lucky that I have never had something like that happen to me.

I’m going to put a poll up and see how many people have ever had an embarrassing moment on the internet.

Feel free to comment, however I recommend you do not go into any specific details, unless you’ve got nothing to lose.

I agree with most of what has been written in the post, which might be a little bit strange to some people coming from myself as a “Gen Xer”.

However the subject about Transparency, don’t get me wrong, it’s great having photos of yourself on facebook/myspace/bebo or what ever social media platform you have an account on. However you have to think about what type of photos you are going to upload.

Sure put up photos of yourself enjoying yourself, but think if people want to see pictures of you throwing up because you’ve over indulged at the christmas party or in a compromising situation.

You are sitting here reading “Yeah we already know that.” Yet some of you still post photos that portray you in a less favourable light.

As a famous US saying goes “What goes on in Vegas, stays in Vegas”.

Before you ask this isn’t the latest headline from the Daily Sport.

I have just read an interesting article I have just received in a daily email from silicon.com

They are taking tenders for a feasiblity study on the costs of putting a satellite in orbit around the moon, that could be used to relay information from test instruments placed on the lunar surface that survey certain geological features to ascertain whether there is any water at the polar regions.

Now you are asking me what on earth this has to do with mobile phones? Well I’m now going to tell you.

This satellite called MoonLITE will enable you to get a four bar signal on your mobile, this would be useful for NASAs plans to build a lunar colony after 2020.

So this gives a whole new meaning to “phoning home” and telling mum “Guess where I am”

In the UK it should be a lot cheaper now the January sales have been brought forward by a month.

Why does it appear that some chief execs seem to lose all common sense the higher  they climb the career ladder?

Please remind me if I ever get to that position of trust within a company, where the ground is incase I get too far ahead of myself.
